Extranet

An Extranet is a closed transactional web site that facilitates the timely communication between suppliers and customers. What does that mean? it selectively allows your suppliers or customers to access your network through filters, which enables them to place purchase orders, submit quotes, etc. directly to you. This is not a new concept, however, it is the first non-proprietary tool that supports the evolution of electronic commerce.

An extranet is generally access via your public corporate web site, using a user name and password logon.
