Spam Filtering

Spam, or unsolicited email, has become one of the hottest topics within the computer industry. How do you get rid of it? Not only does it waste time, resources and is just plain annoying, it has become a financial drain to some companies who have to battle the viruses that come and the additional hardware, bandwidth, etc to handle the additional mail.

As spammers are getting more and more ingenious, it is becoming more and more difficult to reduce the flow. The first step is to install some form of spam filtering; this will reduce the most obvious of spam emails. Next, educate the employees as to how to handle spam when it comes in,(refer to security policy and procedure). Lastly, remove all but one or two email addresses from your web site. If email addresses are published, they are fair game.
