Networking

In basic terminology, connecting two or more computers is considered a network. Connectivity, another term relating to networking, is any method used to connect computers so that there can be an exchange of information, such as using a cable to connect a laptop to a computer.

When it comes to a network for a company there are two types, LAN or WAN. A local area network (LAN) refers to the connecting of individual desktop computers in an office, usually in the same building or in adjacent buildings using cables, phone lines and modems. A wide area network (WAN) is the connecting of desktop computers and LANs over a geographic area using a variety of cabling, ISDN, fibre-optic connections and, if necessary, dedicated satellites.

The key ingredient to a successful network, LAN or WAN, starts with a good design. With our years of experience, Symtrex can be instrumental at this stage and design a network that will work for you and be within your budget.
