What's an Extranet

An Extranet is a closed transactional web site that facilitates the timely communication between suppliers and customers. What does that mean? It selectively allows your suppliers or customers to access your network through filters, which enables them to place purchase orders, submit quotes, etc directly to you. This is not a new concept, however it is the first non-proprietary tool that supports the evolution of electronic commerce.
