Yorkton Securities Inc. is one of Canada's leading investment-bank specialist, focusing on Natural Resources, the country's historic core industries, and Knowledge Industries, emerging new industries. Yorkton covers the entire market spectrum in both these areas - from micro cap to large cap companies, ensuring that they are experts on all companies within them.

The Challenge:

In 1995, Yorkton Securities was running a network using Windows for Workgroups and had no IT staff nor a network consultant/integrator available on an as needed basis. Each office was responsible for their own network and none were connected to each other to facilitate communication between the offices.

Solution:

In 1995, Symtrex was hired by Yorkton Securities to assist them with their networking requirements. Over the course of two and half years, Symtrex rebuilt their entire network migrating offices to Windows NT, built their messaging infrastructure and was responsible for the recommendation and acquisition of hardware and software for their Toronto, London, Vancouver, Paris and New York offices ensuring communication between their 450 employees.

This included setup of their trading areas, which was one of the first Canadian security firms to use Open Bloomberg. (Bloomberg accessible over the network).

During that time Symtrex was also responsible and facilitated two corporate relocation's - Toronto and London, England.
