The Personal Insurance Company of Canada

The Personal Insurance Company was owned by CIBC, and sold to Desjardins in the fall of 2000. The Personal offers Group Home and Auto Insurance.

The Challenge:

As a result of the sale, one of the challenges was to migrate the Microsoft Exchange Email system from CIBC's core network services to a stand alone email system. There was about 1,200 users at the time of the migration February 2001.

The migration had to be timed with other network migration deliverables including the establishment of firewalls, IPS connections, and migrating the internet email address of the users.

Solution:

Symtrex was contracted to deliver the following services:

• Establish the project migration plan,
• Complete the migration of the email services,
• Testing and certification of the migration,
• Support the software migration for six months after migration.
