Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is one of North America's leading financial institutions. CIBC is a full-service financial institution with offices primarily in Canada and the Unites States, with offices in the West Indies, Europe and Asia. CIBC has four strategic business units which are Electronic Commerce, Retail and Small Business Banking, Wealth Management and World Markets. The Challenge: CIBC was planning for the migration of a 50,000 seat e-mail environment to a Managed Exchange Service. CIBC's messaging environment consisted of Exchange, OfficeVision, Lotus Notes, cc:Mail and GroupWise was a challenge. There were difficulties that needed to be addressed including multiple directories, synchronization and the multiple messaging platforms, with the corresponding administration. (This project was later under INTRIA/HP direction) Solution: This was a complex project and was split into the various departments, including CIBC proper, CIBC World Markets, Oppenheimer, Commercial Banking, Mortgages, Human Resources, Telephone Banking, Branch Banking and Electronic Banking. Symtrex architected and implemented SMTP, cc:Mail, GroupWise, OpenMail, Notes, MS Mail, Zip Mail, DISOSS bridgehead servers for directory synchronization with all lines of business e-mail servers complete with third level support. Developed email-addressing standards/guidelines for the CIBC group of companies. This included a network analysis for the corporate e-mail backbone between World Markets, INTRIA/HP and the Y2K e-mail servers. Symtrex was also team lead on the bank wide directory synchronization to make Exchange the master directory to the DISOSS EAB. Symtrex repatriated cibc.com from Wood Gundy New York to Canadian servers and was the technical contact for cibc.com for two years. World on the INTRIA/HP network and security team to design and implement the Internet e-mail gateway with CheckPoint FW1 firewalls and Trend anti-virus servers. Symtrex was also team lead designing CIBC directory schema and implementing Netscape LDAP V3 Directory server to Isocor Metadirectory (Netscape OEM). Symtrex architected and implemented SMTP, cc:Mail, MS Mail, Lotus Notes and DISOSS bridgehead servers for directory synchronization with P&C mail servers complete with 3rd level support. Symtrex assisted Wood Gundy New York and Oppenheimer to integrate the Lotus Notes and cc:Mail environments through an Exchange bridgehead server which connected to Wood Gundy Toronto servers for directory synchronization. This included working with their London and Singapore offices for a clean, scheduled directory replication. Symtrex worked with Oppenheimer on the SMTP connector with the Assentor content filter servers. Symtrex architected and implemented cibc.ca SMTP traffic redirect and blackhole firewall rule set. Symtrex architected and implemented cc:Mail, Notes, SMTP and MS Exchange connectivity to World Markets in New York and the MS Exchange backbone in CIBC Toronto. Other services include working with the existing legacy systems, such as the Assentor content scanning product and existing firewall technology. Symtrex architected and implemented Notes connector for directory synchronization and SMTP Mail. This included routing the Internet e-mail from Wood Gundy New York to the INTRIA/HP SMTP gateway. Symtrex provided third level support and training. Symtrex architected and implemented SMTP, cc:mail, MS Exchange gateway and migrated cc:Mail to MS Exchange. Symtrex architected and implemented MS Exchange server to act as mail delivery transport to HR's People Find Application (replaced by Netscape LDAP V3 Directory Server) Symtrex architected and implemented cc:Mail migration to Exchange and integrated Goldmine Contact Manager into MS Exchange for the call center. Symtrex architected and implemented SMTP & DISOSS e-mail gateway complete with third level support. Symtrex upgraded MS Exchanging, implementing Outlook Web Access and provided third level support. |
